The latest issue of Information Management named its top 25 managers. It’s an impressive list of IT executives. But what really caught my attention when I reviewed this list was the fact that nearly all of the executives chosen were credited with a significant achievement in data governance.
Now I suppose that shouldn’t be such a shock since this is a list published by Information Management. But in the past the list was dominated by cool data warehousing and analytics projects. It’s not that they were totally absent but there was a clear bias toward the importance of data governance and the benefits it is bringing.
Food for thought as you plan your strategic emphasis going forward. Perhaps the day of the CIO, i.e., the chief INFORMATION officer, is still ahead of us.
Nearly all my clients are biopharmaceutical companies which means that we are heading into our yearly brand planning cycle. At this time of the year BI and IT leaders are thinking about the input they can provide to the brand planning process. In some years there is little happening in the IT or BI space that can reasonably have any impact on the brand. But in recent years, with the explosion of the digital healthcare revolution, pharmaceutical companies are facing a fast-changing information technology and business intelligence landscape.
To help IT and BI leaders easily and effectively communiate the essence of the digital healthcare revolution and its potential impact on their brand, we developed the following approach and template. If you have a similar challenge: i.e., to present the technology landscape relative to your industry, this approach and template may be helpful to you.
